Maltese interior designer in UK sparks row with plans for 18th century lodge – report

A Maltese interior designer has sparked a row over an 18th century hunting lodge in the UK.

The Daily Mail reports that a war of words broke out between interior designers over the installation of electric gates at the Odiham lodge that is located in Hampshire.

It reports that Francis Sultana, a 49-year-old interior designer who is the new owner of the lodge, filed plans to install metal gates at the listed building. The building in question, the news report reads, was once described as the ‘prettiest small house in the world’.

The gates will be installed behind the traditional wooden white gates, according to the planning proposal.

It reports that Sultana’s proposal also includes the installation of a plastic-coated fence. Opponents to the application say the additions would go against the conservation management plan, the news report reads.

It quotes Sultana as saying that he fell in love with the lodge as a teenager and assuring everyone that he has the house and garden’s best interests at heart.
